You like to drink alcohol or maybe you are growing tired of it and are wondering how much drinking is too much?
All of these health organizations and their take on the situation, that drinking under a pint a day or X amount of fluid ounces a day or whatever the amount happens to be is an arbitrary call, an opinion, and doesn’t take into consideration that each person is an individual, with different alcohol tolerance capabilities, body weight, chemical reaction to alcohol, and the list goes on and on.
Another way to gauge whether you are drinking too much is by taking a look at how alcohol is impacting your life. Problem drinking and alcohol addiction are not “one size fits all” situations. If drinking is causing problems in any area of your life, it’s worth serious consideration before things really start spiraling out of control. If you drink every day you likely have a drinking problem. If you drink at the most inappropriate times, knowing full well there will be serious repercussions, that is an indication of a serious drinking problem. If you seem to be losing your motivation to get ahead in life, alcohol could be the main contributor.
If you are calling into work for hangovers on a fairly regular basis (or if you have hangovers on a regular basis), if you are constantly arguing with your significant other under the influence, if you have gotten one or more DUI’s, if you seem to be embarrassing yourself in public when you are drinking, if you find yourself making a series of bad decisions when you are sober during a time when you are drinking every day or volume at any given sitting, all of these are signs of a drinking problem.
When you are drinking daily and/or to excess and your life seems to be taking a turn for the worst, it may be time to evaluate the role alcohol has taken on in your life.
