So you are beginning a new year in 2012. A chance for you to get a new start. An opportunity to make some changes in your life for the better. Are you willing to go through everything alcohol put you through last year?

I believe, if we take habitual drunkards as a class, their heads and their hearts will bear an advantageous comparison with those of any other class. There seems ever to have been a proneness in the brilliant and warm-blooded to fall into this vice. The demon of intemperance ever seems to have delighted in sucking the blood of genius and generosity.

                                            – Abraham Lincoln

Current statistics show that there are 18 million alcoholics (as of 2011 and the number is growing) in the United States alone, and the numbers are comparable by population in the U.K., Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and the rest of the world. And it appears that the downturn in the economy may be contributing to the increase in those numbers. That’s a lot of alcoholics, it would be a safe assumption that those numbers are low. Did anyone ever come around and ask us if we had a drinking problem? Probably not. We are in good company too (see the list of famous alcoholics).

Unfortunately, there is not a lot of levity involved in the day-to-day life of the drinker. What started out as social drinking becomes constant, daily drinking with harmful consequences. People who are victims of alcohol abuse need to be careful when they say to themselves “Oh–I’m not that bad”. Alcoholics who reach the advanced stages usually say that very thing at the beginning of their drinking careers too, until continued use takes them from the light category, to intermediate, then advanced. It’s like anything else – you do it long enough and you become a pro.

Some alcoholics get well and some don’t. With those suffering from alcohol addiction or alcoholism who are lucky enough to make it, it can take years to recover through the standard methods. That’s where Max Fisher’s 5 Step Formula comes in. It’s the easiest way to put that drink down and part of the reason this method is so powerful is you will find yourself getting away from the obsession of drinking. You find that you stop thinking about drinking. Problem drinkers are not only getting the relief they need, they are getting it quickly. Just as one example, recently one woman who hadn’t been able to stop drinking alcohol for years wrote to tell us she stopped within the first three days of using Max’s formula. Here are some other comments:

“Following the steps, I was able to stop drinking, which I really believed I would never be able to do.” – Shawn M.

“I tried your formula and I have put down the drink for the first time in three years.” – Carrie T.

“I was up to almost a fifth of vodka a day and was desperate to stop. After following your directions to the letter, which were surprisingly easy, I have been able to stop drinking. I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you.” – Derek C.

“I just started using the 5 Step Formula and couldn’t believe how fast it works. I can get a job now – thank you Max.” – Joe P.

Quotes on Alcohol

I made a commitment to completely cut out drinking and anything that might hamper me from getting my mind and body together. And the floodgates of goodness have opened upon me – spiritually and financially.

- Denzel Washington

People who drink to drown their sorrow should be told that sorrow knows how to swim.

- Ann Landers

Alcoholics despise the taste of alcohol.

- Truman Capote – “Answered Prayers”

I don’t drink these days. I am allergic to alcohol and narcotics. I break out in handcuffs.

- Robert Downey Jr.

I certainly do not drink all the time. I have to sleep you know.

Now don’t say you can’t swear off drinking; it’s easy. I’ve done it a thousand times.

- W.C. Fields

Max Says:

On Brain and Liver Damage from Alcohol:

It is my belief that most brain damage and liver damage is reversible. But you can’t just continue to drink the amount you are drinking indefinitely and hope for the best. There are consequences.

If in the back of your mind you are starting to worry about this kind of damage, it may be time to give in to your instincts and really consider how much longer you are going to be able to pull this thing off…

Do You Ever Ask Yourself am I an Alcoholic?

Take a look at the tip offs to find out whether you may have gone from heavy drinking to alcohol addiction. It’s amazing how often we are the last to know.

Don’t Ever Give Up on Yourself

I was one of those alcoholics who truly believed that I would never be able to stop drinking. I’ve been clean for a while now, and no one is more suprised than I am. The most important thing for you to remember is to never give up on yourself.
