Hepatitis C is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). There is also alcoholic hepatitus caused by excessive drinking. Alcoholism and alcohol abuse accelerates the progression from hepatitis to cirrhosis (which is a condition in which scar tissue replaces healthy liver tissue) and liver cancer. All of this cumulates into the body organs not functioning properly, and one of the earlier symptoms can be jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes as shown in the photo above).
