Mixing Alcohol and Pills, Why It Can Be Lethal – A Note From Max

Experienced users can get very comfortable with the idea of mixing alcohol and pills with the knowledge that they have done it dozens of times with no repercussions.  No matter how many times you have mixed liquor or any type of alcohol with pills with no serious after effects, just the right combination for you and your particular body chemistry can still be lethal.

I have just seen two more incidents in the last month of the devastating effects of the wrong combination of pills and alcohol, one of the individuals was an “experienced” user in this area, and both of them, one male and one female, died young because their systems just shut down with the wrong mix.

One took tranquilizers with liquor, the other liquor and beer with pain killers.  The woman who mixed the tranquilizers with the alcohol has been doing it for years and probably thought nothing of it.  She had stopped drinking for 2 years and had just started drinking again a  few months before the fact.  The man who mixed the painkillers with alcohol was not an experienced user and was drinking on pain medication he needed temporarily for an injury.  He died at 30.

I felt compelled to write this because the woman was a friend of mine, and if it can happen to someone experienced and who feels they know just what combination they can take “safely” it can happen to anyone.  This thing is real.

If you are mixing tranquilizers or painkillers or any kind of prescription drugs along with your existing drinking habits, have a talk with yourself and do your best to eliminate one or both.  The stakes are just too high.
